1. What are nano brows (nano hairstrokes)?

Nano brows are tiny hair-like strokes we draw with a little machine, one stroke at a time, so your eyebrows look full and natural — like real hair, not a tattoo. Some people call them nano hairstrokes or machine hairstrokes. Same thing: the newest, most natural technique. 😊

2. What's the difference between nano brows and microblading?

Microblading cuts the strokes into skin with a hand blade. Nano brows uses a tiny machine needle — gentler on your skin, finer strokes, and it lasts longer. It also works on oily skin, where microblading gets blurry. Most of our clients choose nano now — and honestly, so would we.

3. What's the difference between nano brows and powder brows?

Nano brows look like tiny real hairs. Powder brows look soft like makeup. If you want people to say "wow, your eyebrows are so pretty" without knowing why — that's nano. And yes, we do powder and combo brows too. The key is finding the style that fits YOUR face.

4. How much do nano brows cost in Fresno?

Nano brows are $500. The results usually last 2–3 years, depending on your skin. A touch-up in 4–8 weeks may be needed to help the brows look more complete and last longer. Some clients need it more than others. The results look very natural. 😍

5. How long do nano brows last?

The results usually last 2–3 years, depending on your skin. A touch-up in 4–8 weeks is recommended to perfect the brows, make them look nicer, and help them last longer. Some clients need it more than others, but it is the best way to get the most beautiful healed result. 😍

6. Does getting nano brows hurt?

We use a special DOUBLE NUMBING process — before and during — so most clients say they barely feel anything. A lot of them actually fall asleep in the chair. 😊

7. How long does the appointment take?

The first session takes about 2.5 to 3 hours because we want to spend time working on each hair stroke meticulously to make them look as natural as possible. 😍

8. Is it safe? Who performs the procedure?

Yes. Every procedure is done by our PhiBrows-certified artists with sterile, single-use needles in a licensed studio. We do a full consultation first — your safety and your face come before everything.

9. What is the healing timeline?

Your brows look good right away. Around day 4 they get darker — totally normal, don't panic. Day 5 they start to peel lightly, and by about day 7 the surface is healed. You can work and live normal the whole time. By day 30 the color fully comes back and the brows look beautiful and even. The touchup at 4–8 weeks perfects anything that healed unevenly.

10. Do nano brows scab?

Light peeling is normal; heavy scabbing is not typical with the machine technique. The one rule: don't pick! Let the little flakes fall by themselves so the color underneath heals even.

11. Why do healed photos matter more than fresh photos?

Because fresh brows ALWAYS look perfect — the real skill shows at 6 weeks and 1 year, after your skin heals over the pigment. That's why we show healed results. Ask any studio for healed photos before you book — including us.

12. Do you need to do a touch-up after a few weeks?

For your information, our nano brows / nano hairstroke can last 2–3 years, depending on your skin. A touch-up may be needed in 4–8 weeks to perfect the brows, and after that, the results can last for a few years.

13. Can I work out, swim, or wear makeup while healing?

For about a week: no heavy sweating, pools, or makeup ON the brows. Showers are fine — just apply your aftercare cream first to protect them. We send you home with a full aftercare kit and simple day-by-day instructions.

14. Are nano brows good for oily skin?

Yes — this is nano's superpower. Oily skin blurs microblading strokes, but the machine places pigment at a consistent depth so the strokes stay sharp. If another studio told you your skin "can't hold strokes," come see us.

15. I got mine done years ago and I don't like it. Do you do correction?

Yes, we can definitely take a look at your brows and would love to do a correction for you 😊. Please send us a picture of your eyebrows so we can check what is possible with your eyebrows.

16. Who should NOT get nano brows?

If you're pregnant or nursing — wait until after baby, then come see us. 🤗 Blood thinners, Accutane in the last year, diabetes, or active skin conditions on the brow area need your doctor's OK first — the good news is nano goes much shallower than a real tattoo, so many clients get cleared easily. Doing Botox? Brows first — or wait 3 weeks after Botox.

17. Am I too old for nano brows? What about mature skin?

Never too old! We've done brows for clients in their 70s and even 80s. As brow hair thins with age, fuller brows are the fastest way to frame your face — we adjust the technique and color for mature skin.

18. Will my nano brows look natural?

That's the whole point. Each stroke follows the direction of your natural hair, and the shape is mapped with the golden ratio to fit YOUR face. When someone looks at you, they shouldn't be able to tell — just "your brows look amazing."

19. Can I choose the shape and color?

Yes — we design it together. We map the shape, draw it on, measure both sides so they're even, and show you in the mirror. Nothing starts until you love it. Colors go from light blonde to brown, black, and auburn — quality PhiBrows pigments we customize for you.

20. Will they turn blue or gray like old tattoo brows?

Modern PMU pigments fade softer and warmer — they do not turn the blue-green of old-style tattoo brows. Pigment quality and correct depth matter, which is one more reason to check certification and healed photos anywhere you go.

21. How do I choose a nano brows artist?

Three things — and ask EVERY studio for them, including us. One: HEALED photos, not just fresh ones. Two: real certification from a recognized school, not a weekend class. Three: reviews that mention the actual service. If a studio can't show all three, keep looking.

22. Why do clients choose JD Brows?

Brows are literally our name. 4,230+ brow treatments, PhiBrows-certified master artists, and healed results we publish openly. This studio was built on one craft: the most natural brows in the Central Valley.

23. How do I book, and is there a consultation?

We're appointments-only — book online through our calendar. Every first visit starts with a consultation: we look at your skin, talk about the shape you want, and tell you honestly if nano is right for you. If it's not, we'll say so.

24. Where are you located?

1515 E Shaw Ave, Fresno, CA 93710 — 2 minutes from Fashion Fair Mall, on the corner of Millbrook and Shaw, across from the Lobster restaurant. We serve Fresno, Clovis, and the Central Valley. Open every day, 9am–5pm.

25. Is nano brows like henna brows?

No — henna is a stain on top of the skin that fades in about 2 weeks. Nano brows places pigment under the surface in hair-like strokes and lasts 2–3 years. Henna is a preview. Nano is the real thing. 😊

26. Is it the same as a tattoo?

It's semi-permanent. The pigment sits in the surface layers — much shallower than a body tattoo. That's why it fades softly over 2–3 years instead of staying forever, and why it ages natural instead of turning dark and blurry.

27. Will there be bleeding or swelling?

Very little of either — because we stay shallow, most clients have just minimal redness that settles within hours. Your brows look good the same day, and you can go right back to normal life.

28. Do you shave off my natural brow hair?

No — we keep your natural hair! The strokes are drawn between and through your real hairs, so the healed result is a blend of your hair and ours. If some hairs grow outside the mapped shape, we may clean up just those stray hairs — only the ones outside the shape — so your brows look their best and fit your face perfectly.

29. I have gray brow hairs — will it still work?

Yes, no worries at all — we blend pigment shades to work with gray hairs so everything heals soft and even, not two-toned. Color matching is part of your mapping session. ✨

30. My brows are thin, uneven, or have no arch — can you fix that?

That's exactly our job! Thin, uneven, no arch — we build the shape with golden-ratio mapping for YOUR face, including a natural-looking arch where there isn't one. Send us an inspiration photo and we'll get you as close as possible.

31. How should I prepare for my appointment?

Keep it simple: no caffeine 2 hours before, no retinol on the brow area 2 days before, and no brow tinting within a week of your appointment. On blood thinners? Ask your doctor about pausing 2 days before. Botox? Brows first — or wait 3 weeks after. Makeup is fine — we clean and disinfect before we start. Everything else, we prepare for you.

32. Can I travel, go on a cruise, or take a vacation right after?

Yes! We send you home with a special aftercare cream to protect your brows while they heal. Follow the 7-day care card and enjoy your trip. 🌴

33. What payments do you accept?

Cash, credit cards, Zelle, and Venmo. We don't offer payment plans.

34. How much is the touch-up in 4–8 weeks?

Some clients need a touch-up and some do not. It depends on your skin and how the brows heal. A touch-up is recommended to help the brows look more complete and last longer. If needed, the touch-up fee is $150.

35. How does the process (nano brows) work?

We are going to use PhiApp to measure your face to get a style and shape that will match with your face. After that we draw on the shape and measure it to make sure both sides are even and show you. If you like the style, we then will continue.

36. I have seen a lot of nano brows gone wrong — making the person look like a cartoon character.

I totally understand how you feel. Eyebrows are so important. I have had clients just like you before. That's why I always try my best to make the eyebrows the most natural possible — because you will wear them for a couple of years.

37. Will they (nano brows) look the same after healed?

They fade a little bit, like 20%, but they still look pretty good.

38. How many sessions do I need for a year?

Our nano brows / nano hairstroke usually last 2–3 years. A touch-up is often recommended 4–8 weeks after the first appointment. After that, yearly touch-ups are not required, but some clients choose one to keep the color fresh.

39. How much if I come back a few years later?

Returning clients coming back a few years later pay $300 for a full color refresh.

40. Do I need a deposit to book?

Yes — a $50 deposit holds your appointment (this applies to nano brows, permanent makeup, lips, eyeliner, lamination, and glass skin). If you show up and decide not to go ahead, we refund it. If you go ahead, it counts toward your total. It's just our way of protecting appointment times for clients who show up. 😊
